Effective: May 29, 2026 | Updated: August 31, 2026
In short: Wayo keeps complete routes, photo content, raw Health data, note text, and saved voice-note audio on your device by default. Individual coordinates may be handled by Apple’s system geocoding service to return place names. After you consent, Wayo sends device-linked usage and diagnostic data to improve the product. Product events may include city-level place names, dates, step and route summaries, and internal identifiers for journeys, posters, pages, and photos, but not photo content, detailed addresses, or complete GPS point sequences.
This policy explains how Wayo (the “App”) collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information, and the rights available to you. Please read it before using the App. By tapping “Agree and Continue,” you confirm that you have read and accepted this policy.
1. Information we collect and why
Wayo follows a data-minimization principle. The permissions below are requested only when you use a feature that needs them; they are not all requested when you first open the App.
Information
Purpose
Uploaded?
Location (GPS)
Record a journey route and obtain readable place names
The route stays on device; individual coordinates may be sent to Apple’s system geocoding service
Photos and photo library
Use capture time and location to help recover past outings and create memories
Photo content stays on device; a photo coordinate may be used with Apple’s geocoding service
Health data (steps, distance, heart rate, active energy, and workouts)
Show activity totals in the App and save a completed walk to Apple Health
Raw Health records stay on device. Aggregates for the previous 30 / 90 days are uploaded, and a product event related to viewing a day or journey may include the step summary for that day or journey, as described below
Motion and fitness activity
Distinguish walking, running, and vehicle travel to improve route accuracy
No; stored on device
Camera
Take photos during a journey
No; photos are handled as described above
Microphone, speech transcription, and voice-note audio
Turn speech into note text on supported devices and let you replay the original audio
Transcription and saved audio stay on device; Wayo does not use online speech-recognition fallback
Device and usage analytics
Understand feature use, crashes, and performance so we can improve the App (through the Umeng SDK and our own analytics service)
Yes; encrypted in transit and associated with a pseudonymous device identifier
“Stored on device” means that the relevant content is not sent to Wayo’s servers. Apple system services such as geocoding or iCloud are governed by your Apple settings and Apple’s terms; we do not gain access to your route or photo content through them.
2. Location information
We treat precise location and route history as sensitive personal information and apply heightened care. Location is essential to recording a route. We use it when you actively start a journey. To continue recording while the screen is locked or the App is in the background, Wayo may request “While Using the App” and background location access. Route history stays on your device, is not uploaded to Wayo’s cloud, and is not used for advertising. To show a readable place name, Wayo may ask Apple’s system geocoding service to process an individual route or photo coordinate; Apple handles that request under its own privacy policy. You can disable location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
3. Third-party SDKs and sharing
Wayo includes the Umeng+ U-App analytics SDK to understand product use and improve the App. We do not sell, rent, or proactively share your personal information with other third parties.
Information collected: device identifiers such as IDFV, device model, operating-system version, network and carrier information, crash and performance data, and usage events linked to a pseudonymous device identifier. Wayo does not request IDFA and does not track you across apps.
Purpose: measure App use, stability, and performance so we can improve the product
Processing: the SDK is initialized only after you consent to this policy; transmitted data is encrypted in transit
Information collected: IDFV, device model, operating-system version, App version, network status, time zone, and key in-App events such as opening the App, entering a city or journey, editing or saving a poster, or opening the memory grid. To understand whether these features work well, an event may include a city-level place name, calendar date, step count, distance, whether a route exists, route-point count, and internal App identifiers for a journey, poster, page, or photo. This does not include photo content, detailed addresses, complete GPS point sequences, note text, voice-note audio, or other raw Health data.
Aggregate daily-step statistics: if you enable Health access, we send the median daily steps, days meeting 8,000 steps, and days with readable data for the previous 30 and 90 days. These windows exclude today and the periodic aggregate report does not contain a list of daily totals. As disclosed above, however, a product event triggered when you view a day, journey, or memory-grid item may include the step summary for that day or journey.
Purpose: understand feature use and conversion, diagnose crashes and performance issues, and improve the product.
Transfer and storage: collected only after consent, encrypted in transit, and processed by our analytics infrastructure (tripbwh.duoduoipo.com). Its public service endpoint may be outside your country or region, so this processing may involve an international transfer. We use it only for product analytics, diagnostics, and security.
4. When you send feedback
The feedback feature uses a device identifier to check automatically for a developer reply. We receive your message, App and operating-system details, or diagnostic content only when you choose to submit them; diagnostic logs are not uploaded automatically in the background. Our support infrastructure may process these requests outside your country or region.
5. Storage and security
Your routes, photo content, Health data, note text, and voice-note audio are stored on your device. Deleting the relevant journey removes its saved note audio; removing the App removes all locally stored App data.
Analytics sent to Umeng is encrypted in transit and stored and processed in mainland China under Umeng’s policy.
Analytics sent to our service is encrypted in transit and used only for product analysis, diagnostics, and security. Its hosting may involve processing outside your country or region.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no internet-connected system can be guaranteed completely secure.
6. Your choices and rights
Access and manage: routes and photos stored by Wayo are visible and removable in the App.
Withdraw permission: you can disable location, Photos, Health, or another permission at any time in system Settings. The related feature may stop working, but previously recorded local data is not affected.
Delete data: delete an individual journey in the App, or remove the App to clear all locally stored App data.
Stop analytics: contact us using the email below if you want analytics collection to stop.
7. Children
Wayo is primarily intended for adults. If you are under 14, please review this policy with a parent or guardian and use the App only with their consent. We do not intentionally collect children’s personal information. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete it as soon as reasonably possible.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If a material change occurs, we will request your consent again in the App. Please review the “Updated” date above.
